MEET YOUR FINALIST...

Hayley Bisofsky, London

Slavery was abolished over 200 years ago, yet the trafficking of women for sexual exploitation still goes on today. I’m passionate about bringing hope, restoration and significance to the female survivors of this horrific crime, so that they can choose a future free from sexual torture and physical abuse.

There are an estimated 27 million slaves in the world today; 90% of those are women and children. Many are sold into the sex industry against their will right here in the UK.

I work for the William Willberforce Trust, a charity which aims to bring hope, restoration and significance to women who have been subject to human trafficking and sexual exploitation. I hope to train a group of volunteers to become highly skilled mentors so that they can provide life-saving support for the female victims of this horrific crime.

The programme will offer a consistent, warm and friendly service to women who have gone through unthinkable trauma. Together with my team of mentors, I hope to provide a compassionate community for desperate women as they recover and return back to society. We will offer emotional support and practical advice, such as accompanying women to vital healthcare appointments or court appearances, helping fill out forms to receive benefits or coaching on their interview techniques. The programme will empower these survivors to realise their potential and choose a future that is free from sexual torture and physical abuse.
